TGC-1 has drawn its production results in the first quarter of 2012.

TGC-1 has drawn its production results in the first quarter of 2012.

Electricity generated by the Company's power plants including the Murmanskaya CHPP in January – March 2012 amounted to 8,501.1 million kW/h which is a 5.7% increase compared to the same period of 2011. Generation by HEPs was slightly down by 0.4% to reach 2,865.7 million kW/h as compared to 2,878 million kW/h in 2011. Generation by CHPPs was 9.1% up to reach 5,635.4 million kW/h as compared to 5,164.5 million kW/h in the first quarter of 2011. The growth was primarily due to the commissioning of new units of the Yuzhnaya and the Pervomayskaya CHPPs (979.4 million kW/h which is 11.5% of the total production).

Utilization of new energy-efficient capacities brings its positive effect to the reduction of fuel consumption rate per kW/h generated which is down by 2.9% in the reported quarter of 2012.

TGC-1 installed capacity-use efficiency ratio (ICUR) amounted to 55.5% which was 2.1 percentage points lower than the figure for the 1st quarter of 2011. CHPPs’ ICUR was 4.4 percentage points lower to reach 62.9% and HEPs’ ICUR was 0.9 percentage points lower to reach 45%. Such dynamics corresponds to the absence of demand for electricity generation from the wholesale market which was a result of a higher than usual ambient temperatures during the first quarter of 2012 and the subsequent order of the System Operator to shutdown the equipment to cold reserve.

Also due to higher than usual ambient temperatures during the first quarter of 2012 the Company’s heat production including that of the Murmanskaya CHPP was down by 3.9% to reach 10,864.6 thousand GCal as compared to 11,307.8 thousand GCal in the first quarter of 2011. The record of average temperatures in the first quarter of 2012 shows that the ambient temperature in the Nevsky Branch was 0.6 оС higher compared to the same period of 2011, 2 оС higher in the Karelsky Branch and 2.4 оС higher in the Kolsky Branch.
