The Apatitskaya CHPP's Results of the Heating Season

29 May 2012

On May 21, 2012, in accordance with the decision of Apatity City Administration, the Apatitskaya CHP plant — the only heating supplyer in Apatity - switched to summer operation schedule.

In 2011, the heating was turned on in residential buildings of Apatity on September 7, thus the heating period lasted 258 days. In the first 9 months, the Apatitskaya CHPP supplied to residents of Apatity 1,038,000 GCal of heat, which is by 45 GCal less than in the previous heating season. During the 2011-2012 heating season, including severely cold January and February days, when the minimum outside air temperature fell below 30º C, the heating company continuously supplied heat to the residents of Apatity.

During the past heating season, the Apatitskaya CHP plant and JSC ApatityEnergo constantly monitored the distribution of thermal energy in the heating system. Temperature control and prompt response helped avoid customer complaints throughout the entire thermal energy supply period. Regular coolant temperature monitoring will continue next year.

The period between heating seasons is when the large-scale repair campaign takes place. The Apatitskaya CHP plant has scheduled a number of activities necessary to reliably provide residents of Apatity with heat and hot water during the coming fall-winter season. Those include basic equipment repairs, rail tracks replacement, and gas duct and chimney cleaning. In 2012, over 500 meters of the main grid will be replaced and subject to hydraulic testing of density and strength, which will let the experts identify and replace damaged or worn parts of the pipeline in the summer, before the heating season begins.
