The Interregional Competition of CHPP Specialists of TGC-1 Ended in St. Petersburg

25 May 2012

On May 21 – 25, 2012, a professional competition of CHPP specialists from St. Petersburg, Leningrad, Murmansk, and Karelia regions took place in St. Petersburg.

By tradition, the competition was hosted by the TGC-1's Training Center. The event was attended for the first time by teams representing modular and cross-connection CHPPs. Each team was built exactly like a standard CHPP shift, bringing together boiler, turbine, electrical equipment, and water treatment equipment experts.

The competition was intense, and the favorites could only be identified towards the end of the competition. The Pervomayskaya CHPP won the competition among the modular CHPPs, the Severnaya CHPP came second, and the Pravoberezhnaya CHPP came third. The Petrozavodskaya CHPP won the competition among cross-connection CHPPs, the Avtovskaya CHPP came second, and the Apatitskaya CHPP came third.

According to Alexei Vorobyov, the Chief judge of the competition and Deputy Chief Engineer of JSC TGC-1, "the main objective of the competition — staff preparation and training — was achieved even before the competition started. During those four days, the participants demonstrated that they were ready to respond quickly to any emergency situation and reduce its impact on the CHPP working modes to a minimum."
