Vasileostrovskaya CHP of JSC TGC-1 celebrates its 80th anniversary

October 1, 2012 Vasileostrovskaya CHP is 80 years old. In ceremonies to mark the anniversary of the station were attended by heads of JSC TGC-1, the deputy chairman of the Committee on Energy and Engineering Vladimir Kukushkin, director of station Eugene Komashko and the administration and Vasilievsky Island.

Activities included the visit of station by reporters. Observing CHP started at the monument of the old turbine, which has served since1932 at the textile manufacture of V. Slutskaya – on city power station № 7 later renamed Vasileostrovskaya CHP.

In the engine room the participants saw modern equipment – turbines, boilers and automated control systems. In the control room, where the noise of working turbines was not as strong, the journalists could ask questions about the periodic heating to the plant’s director and a representative of the Committee. The tour ended at the updated outdoor switchgear 110 kV.

According to the director of the station Komashko Eugene, "despite the fact that Vasileostrovskaya CHP - the smallest station of JSC TGC-1 in St. Petersburg, we regularly provide heat and electricity to the entire Vasilievsky Island and are ready to step up to the loads due to the fact that the area is actively developing, new houses and entire residential neighborhoods are building. Perfect work of station is possible due to constant upgrading of equipment and high professionalism of the team."

Vasileostrovskaya CHP has a special place in the history of the power system of the North-West. Its work is inscribed in the annals of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. In the days of the siege of Leningrad during fuel shortages the station gave power to the plant Sevkabel to make the "cable of life”, laid on the bottom of Lake Ladoga to restore power supply of the city. Today Vasileostrovskaya CHP is the only source of power and heat on Vasilievsky Island.

After the press tour the leaders of station as well as representatives of the administration of Vasilievsky Island went to Peter and Paul Fortress, where at Naryshkin bastion exactly on 12.00 a volley in honor of Vasileostrovskaya CHP was fired.
