New equipment was delivered in Murmansk region to Iovskaya HPP

In Murmansk region to Iovskaya HPP of Nivskiye HPPs Cascade of JSC TGC-1 the impeller of hydraulic unit #1 was delivered.

The equipment is manufactured in the factory ANDRITZ Hydro GmbH (Graz, Austria). In May 2013 it has stood the required hydraulic testing at the production place, which was carried out with the participation of specialists of JSC TGC-1. And then it was sent from Graz to St. Petersburg, Moscow region and finally to Iovskaya HPP (Murmansk region).

The new swivel-bladed impeller is made of stainless steel. Seven molded blades with established on outside diameter anti-cavitation plates are protected from the effects of water flow has on the surface of the turbine.

The equipment will operate in a wide range with high efficiency and is capable of providing electrical power of 47 MW at a design head of 32 meters. "All the basic equipment needed for reconstruction, has been delivered to the station. Contractor completed concreting an impeller chamber, installation of a new stator winding of the unit, begun installation of guide vane and a new oil pressure unit - told about the progress Andrew Zharnikov, director of Nivskiye HPPs Cascade. - Also diving work started on cleaning the intake screens from accumulated garbage in order to their further replacement."

The project of reconstruction of station includes complete replacement of impellers, systems of control and excitation, reconstruction of protection and automatic and aims at improving the reliability of the HPP and the more efficient use of hydropower reservoirs.
