First time Karelia faced a water disaster of such size. Only through concerted efforts of all employees of TGC-1 — and those who were at the station, and in the management stage , branch and St. Petersburg — we managed to prevent a great disaster. What happened in Belomorsky area has shown once again that in the profession of power specialist there is no geographical boundaries — we are all doing the same thing. Within six months, was carried out a large amount of repair work on the main and auxiliary equipment, indoor rooms of station. And today Matkozhnenskaya HPP is operating normally.

The opening of the memorial sign was a birthday present for station. It was forged by Karelian blacksmith Nicholai Vesnin and installed at the main entrance to the plant. The memorable sign depicts a shield showing professionalism, duty and responsibility of people.

The festivities ended with a tour for veterans and guests of station in restored halls of Matkozhnenskaya HPP.
