JSC TGC-1 held international meeting on co-regulation of Lake Inari

55th international meeting of the Commissioners from Russia, Finland and Norway on co-regulation of Lake Inari was held on February 12, 2014 at the main office of JSC TGC-1.

Tripartite Meeting of Environment and Power specialists opened by the head of the Russian delegation Sergey Kruglyakov, Deputy General Director of Marketing and Sales of JSC TGC -1.

During the meeting, Finnish experts suggested additions to the rules of regulation of Lake Inari based on climate change projections to 2069 and 2099. According to Finnish experts we can expect an increase in mean annual temperature, reducing the period of snow.

Participants of the meeting agreed that in the context of climate change need to make changes to an existing agreement, signed April 29, 1959. Additions will effectively regulate water supplies Inari to optimize scheduling hydropower plants in Russia and Norway and conservation of flora and fauna of the pond.

As a result, given the task of meeting authorized the working group to prepare proposals for the development of additions to the rules for regulation of Lake Inari.

The meeting ended with the signing of the Protocol on Water Lake Inari to the 1st half of 2014. Also, the program of releases has been agreed to 30 June 2014 taking into account the maintenance of hydropower plants. In case of a significant deviation from the forecasts presented at the meeting, the program will be adjusted.
