06 May 2014

On 6 May 2014, as a tribute to the heroism of the besieged inhabitants of Leningrad, representatives from the council of veterans and the youth activists council at JSC TGC-1 laid flowers at the Pulkovo Line memorial.

Every year, on the eve of Victory Day, trips are organized for the company’s veterans and young people to monuments of the Great Patriotic War.

– Today is a tribute to the heroes of those terrible days, their courage and self-sacrifice which not only the veterans, but also the young professionals at TGC-1 have dedicated, - said Natalya Bystrova, Director of the Energy Industry Museum for the North West Region. – Young people’s reverence and respect for the city’s history, their understanding of the importance of inter-generational ties and their comprehension of the immense heroism shown by power engineers during the war years, gives hope for a bright and peaceful future.

After the ceremony, the guests headed to the Pervomayskaya CHPP, where they were taken round and shown the modern SGU-180. The power engineers were convinced that all their hard work and efforts had not been in vain and that the plant was in safe hands.

A surprise was in store for the veterans at the Pervomayskaya CHPP – a concert, involving CHPP staff and members of the TGC-1 youth activists council. The concert featured wartime songs and contemporary works dedicated to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
