Comprehensive testing of new integrated switchgear in progress at Russia’s oldest power plant

At the JSC TGC-1 Tsentralnaya CHPP power plant №2, construction of the building for closed 110/6 kV integrated switchgear with SF insulation is now complete.

Power engineers are now working on the comprehensive testing of this electrical equipment and conducting set-up and start-up activities.

— On April 27, the Tsentralnaya CHPP power plant № 2 – the oldest in Russia – turned 117. Despite its ripe old age, the plant continues to operate without any disruptions, says Igor Sadovskiy, Director of the Department for Capital Construction at the JSC TGC-1 Tsentralnaya CHPP. — Today we are seeing the completion of the construction of the new integrated switchgear – the power-generating heart of the city! It’s designed to increase the reliability of the electricity supply for consumers and important social facilities in the historic city centre – the metro system, municipal hospitals, state institutions and the Government of St Petersburg.

As a result of the modernisation in energy sector production, full automation of the technical and production processes has now been achieved.
