Power engineers of TGC-1 confirmed readiness to preserve the maximum number of trees in the area of renovation of the heating grid in Petrozavodsk

During the field meeting on the Anokhina Street  (Petrozavodsk) on the matter of modernization of the transit pipeline the power engineers of JSC TGC-1 reconfirmed their willingness to preserve the maximum number of trees in the area of renovation works. The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Petrozavodsk Galina Shirshina, Heads of the resource provider and the representatives of design and environmental companies.

The zone of the new transit pipeline laying (the stretch from the 20, Anokhina Street to 30, Anokhina Street), on which heating and hot water supply to the homes of 150 thousand citizens of Petrozavodsk depend, has been inspected. The excavation area includes 1-2 strips of green space, located close to the roadway, composed of 3-6 rows of trees.

"At the moment we are considering the possibility to preserve the trees growing in front of the house number 20, Anokhina Street.  Appropriate technical specification has already been set by us in front of JSC "PI" Karelproekt"," said the Chief Engineer of the Petrozavodskaya CHPP of JSC TGC-1 Vasily Karpov.  "We are also ready to transplant the shrubs of cotoneaster and the trees to a place, which will be determined by the ecologists. In this case, we will not only preserve, but will additionally plant at least a hundred new large trees in the city center within the environmental projects of TGC-1. We already have such experience. Since 2011, power engineers of TGC-1 and the Petrozavodskaya CHPP have already planted a few dozen trees and three hundred valuable shrubs on the Onega embankment, now it is called the Avenue of Power Engineers".

"Relaying of the transit pipeline is essential - the old communications will not allow to provide reliable heat supply to both existing neighborhoods and those under construction," in turn, said the Head of the Petrozavodsk Galina Shirshina. "In the near future we shall obtain the opinion of lawyers, as well as biologists of the Petrozavodsk State University on the trees listed in the Red Book and shrubs, which fall within the area of excavation. Permits will be signed only after we will have complete clarity about how the red book trees will be preserved, and only after we make sure that we did everything possible to reduce the damage to the green areas."
