Less then a week left to submit art works for the Turn Your Head On animation and graphic art competition

17 November 2014

The deadline for the Turn On Your Head animation and graphic art competition is November 22, 2014. There are already more than 100 art works in the virtual gallery at My Energy portal.

The winners in two nominations, namely, The Best Graphic Project and The Best Animation Project will be announced at the opening ceremony of the Turn On Your Head exhibition in December 2014. The laureates will get prizes from the competition’s organizers and partners, which include JSC TGC-1, AGT Communication Group, Infographics magazine, SPB TV, the Designers Union of Russia, the Russian Association of Public Relations Students (RASSO), and Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper.

“We are happy that so many talented authors have joined the competition. There are not just professional artists but also beginning designers and animators. Some works have been created by young artists’ groups”, said Larisa Semyonova, member of the jury and Head of the Public Relations Department at JSC TGC-1. “I am sure that we need to draw the attention of the public to resolving pressing social issues. With this competition, we want to show that using resources in a rational and responsible way is essential for a reliable heat and electricity supply to one’s home and an efficient way to save one’s family budget.”

Competing artists from St. Petersburg, Murmansk, Kirov, Apatity, Petrozavodsk, Saratov, Kazan, and other cities are continuing to share ideas on the subject of responsible consumption of energy resources.

“The works of the competitors are absolutely different even though they are related by one common idea. There are paintings, illustrations, and even designer experiments on the subject of rational consumption of energy resources,” said the artist and illustrator Sophia Miroedova, member of the jury who founded and heads Miroedova School, a school of commercial illustration. “It is clear that many authors already have a rich experience of creating original sketches. There are even a few topical series on the subject of energy. And the fantasy of children is something that even adult authors can envy!”

Interactive voting in social media (http://vk.com/myenergy.ru) shows that some authors have already got fans. The users like the cartoon Through the Darkness by Darya Konopatova, ironic comics by Darya Klimovskaya, and masterful illustrations by Andrey Orlov.

“The non-conventional approach of the authors and the abundance of creative images and techniques are impressive indeed. Selecting the best will be hard work for the jury. I think such a bright and original approach to energy efficiency will bring numerous responses,” said Nadezhda Malkina, member of the jury and Director of Social Communications at AGT Communications Agency. “The Competition can become an excellent career starting point for its participants. Not only will they present their work at the exhibition at Loft Project Etagi but they will also be offered internships at AGT Communications Agency.”
