The TGC-1 energy workers are about to complete the erection of a temporary pipeline to ensure hot water supply for 150,000 Petrozavodsk residents in May-August 2015, the period of the third stage of a large-scale heating network renovation in the area from the intersection of the Gogol and Anokhin Streets to the Drevlyansky Embankment in the floodplain of the Lososinka River.

The project was launched in autumn 2014. The main goal of renovation is to increase the diameter of the pipes and implement a rapid remote control system.

According to the energy specialists, the main feature of the third stage is that the relief of the third heat pipeline section allows laying new pipelines in the place of the existing ones.

“In May 2015, we intend to start dismantling and replacing the existing pipeline along the Gogol and Anokhin Streets. To date, we have completed laying a new pipeline from the intersection of the Gogol and Anokhin Streets and in the military housing area. Further work is possible only when there is a temporary pipeline for hot water supply for three districts, Kukovki, Golikovki, and Zareki, during the non-heating season when the main transit pipeline is off”, comments Alexander Vdovichenko, Director of the TGC-1 Petrozavodskaya CHPP. “This is because this heat pipeline section has no backup line and requires creating an additional line for heat conductor circulation. Its erection is underway”.

The temporary pipeline project was developed by the experts from Karelproject Design Institute in 2011. The temporary pipeline consists of the pipes which are in compliance with all the regulatory requirements and were tested in the certified laboratory of metals at the Petrozavodskaya CHPP, where ultrasonic flaw detection and pipe thickness measurements were carried out.

The heating network will be upgraded all the way from the intersection of the Gogol and Anokhin Streets, along the Anokhin Street where the military unit is located (military housing area 1) to the residence hall no. 1, then under the roadway of the Anokhin Street, then to the right near a block of flats along the Anokhin Street, and up to the Drevlyansky Embankment in the floodplain of the Lososinka River.
