Energy workers of the Kem HPPs Cascade to win JSC TGC-1 Hydroelectric Plants Operating Personnel Competition

JSC TGC-1 hydroelectric plants' operating personnel competition held in Murmashi village of Murmansk Oblast terminated on 03 September, 2015.

Ten teams of HPPs located in the Republic of Karelia, Leningrad and Murmansk Oblast took part in the competition. The first place was given to the team of the Kem HPPs Cascade, the second place was shared between teams of the Tuloma HPPs Cascade and the Serebryanskiye HPPs Cascade, with the team of the Suna HPPs Cascade getting the third place.

The winners of the competition were announced following the results of six events: fire and emergency drills, the knowledge of standard documentation and safety regulations, first aid, and routine switching. 

In fire drills, energy workers from the Niva HPPs Cascade showed the best results. Teams from the Ladoga HPPs Cascade and the Niva HHPs Cascade were first in professional excellence competition in routine switching. In emergency drills and occupational safety violation detection, the team from the Paz HPPs Cascade showed the best performance. In first aid in cases of occupational accidents, the team from the Ladoga HPPs Cascade excelled. The first place in knowledge assessment on regulations was given to the team of the Kem HPPs Cascade.

"Congratulations to the winners. Specialists were able to check their knowledge and learn more. This year, all teams kept pace with each other, which indicates the overall high level of training among operating personnel," remarked Aleksey Vorobyev, the head of the panel and JSC TGC-1 Deputy Chief Engineer.

Judges also announced the names of those energy workers who were acknowledged as the best in their field in the individual events. Konstantin Sechko, shift engineer at Poduzhemskaya HPP, was named the best head of shift. Maksim Beregovtsov, main control panel electrician at the Tuloma and Serebryanskiye HPPs Cascades, became the best electrician on duty.

"It was the fourth hydroelectric plants' operating personnel competition organised in such a format," said Victoria Plotnikova, Head of the TGC-1 Training Centre. "The competition constitutes a part of comprehensive training for Company employees. Such events allow senior management to identify candidate pool, while for workers this is an opportunity to strengthen expertise required in daily work.
