September 30, 2015, is the 60th anniversary of the commissioning of the Narvskaya HPP of JSC TGC-1.

The Narvskaya HPP is a unique plant, which belongs to JSC TGC-1 and is located on the border of Russia and Estonia.

The plant is situated in Ivangorod. The state border of Russia and Estonia passes through the middle of the dam. On the Estonian side, there are a 1.1 km long earth dam, a 450 m tailrace canal dam, and half of the dam.

“The Narvskaya HPP is operating the hydraulic facilities of the Narva water development together with the Estonian side. There is a cooperation agreement between the two countries. We are cooperating closely with our foreign colleagues in the field of repair and ensuring the safety of the power plant,” said Oleg Medvedev, Director of the Narvskaya HPP of JSC TGC-1.

The station, the construction of which started in the 1950s, has Russian machinery only. Since 2014, complete modernization of hydraulic units is going on at the Narvskaya HPP, which includes replacement of hydropower, hydromechanical, and electrical equipment with modern machinery. Overhaul of the hydraulic units No. 1 and No. 2 has been completed with modernization of the unit control system and implementation of an automatic process control system. The hydraulic unit No. 3 will undergo similar modernization in the next few years.

At present, the power plant has 66 employees.

“Our main asset has always been our people. We respect the memory of energy professionals who gave years of their life to the power plant’s development, and we value the people who are creating its future today,” Medvedev added.
