December 26, 2015 marks the 65th anniversary of the launch of JSC TGC-1 Yaniskoski HPP.

The construction of Yaniskoski HPP, the first HPP of the Paz HPPs Cascade in the Murmansk Oblast, started on the territory of Finland in 1938, and four years later the power plant started producing electricity. However, it was destroyed in 1944, and Finnish Imatran Voyma company was in charge of the reconstruction. Project completion marked the beginning of post-war economic coopertaion between the U.S.S.R., Finland, and Norway.

"Yaniskoski HPP is a well-built facility. Its hydroelectric units have been working for 65 years. We run upgrades on a regular basis, including the introduction of automatic process control systems," remarks Nikolay Vorobyev, the Director of JSC TGC-1 Paz HPPs Cascade. Presently, Yaniskoski HPP generates electricity not only for Russia; some of it is exported to Finland.

Yaniskoski HPP is the second power plant of the Paz HPPs Cascade. Its installed capacity is 30.2 MW, and average long-term electricity output is 211.250mln kWh.
