The Minutes of Lake Inari Water Regime Control were signed in Oslo

On February 18, 2016 in Oslo, the authorized representatives of Russia, Norway and Finland signed the Minutes of Lake Inari Water Regime Control, resources of Lake Inari are used by Russian and Norwegian HPPs. JSC TGC-1 was represented by Gennady Semenov, Deputy General Director for Marketing and Sales, Alexander Novikov, Chief Engineer of the Kolskiy Branch, and Nikolay Vorobyev, Director of the Paz HPPs Cascade.

Lake Inari is located within the territory of Finland and is the only water reservoir for HPPs on the Paatsjoki river (the Paz river). Within the framework of three-party meeting the power engineers and ecologists agreed on the water release schedule for 2016 including the power plants maintenance schedules.

The unique international agreement has been effective since 1959. The working team is planning to develop amendments to the document in order to improve the Russian and Norwegian HPPs operation schedules to ensure rational use of Inari water resources and improve environmental situation near Lake Inari and the Paatsjoki river (the Paz river).

— Efforts of all parties are primarily aimed at preservation of Lake Inari environmental conditions, which are maximally close to natural ones. Such meetings are held on a regular basis and contribute to quick data exchange among specialists, reliable operation of frontier power plants, preservation of the water reservoir flora and fauna, said Gennady Semenov.
