Representatives of the St. Petersburg executive authorities visits the Museum of Energy History of the North-West

20 April 2016

Representatives of the St. Petersburg executive authorities in charge of public relations visited the Museum of Energy History of the North-West located in the head office of JSC TGC-1 on April 20, 2016.

Participants of the excursion learned about more than one-hundred-year history of the energy industry in the region where it was developed and construction of the first power plants under GOELRO plan started.

The Museum arranged under the open exhibition principle widely uses both the traditional exhibit items and multimedia technologies in its displays. Natalia Bystrova, the Director of Museum, said about the most interesting exhibit items and important events of the St. Petersburg energy industry, including the act of heroism of energy workers in the war days.

The Museum is unique because of its exhibits and compositional arrangement. This is the only corporate museum of St. Petersburg made under the open exhibition principle: the person enters the company office and immediately gets into the museum area. There are rare objects, for example, one of the oldest Russian lamps, a piece of the 125-kilometer “life cable”, the complete set of decrees of the Council of People’s Commissars (Sovnarkom), war-time magazines, and interesting devices. We keep in memory achievements of great engineers, contribution of the energy objects into development of regions and write new pages of the modern history of the industry.
