В Санкт-Петербурге установлен памятный знак у места расположения первой электростанции России
Today in St. Petersburg, on the initiative of JSC TGC-1, a memorial sign dedicated to the first Russia's power plant was installed.
In October 1883, it was set on a barge near the Green (Police) Bridge on the Moika River to generate electricity for street lights on the Nevsky Prospekt.
The celebrations on the occasion of the sign installation were attended by the General Director of Gazprom Energoholding LLC, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC TGC-1 Denis Fedorov and General Director of JSC TGC-1 Alexey Barvinok.
'Gazprom Group provides a special treatment of Russian traditions and history. They give an idea of the immense research, technical and productive capacity of Russia. We do remember how the energy industry was created, and what advancements it brought about. This is why we feel very confident about its future,' - Denis Fedorov said.
In his turn, Alex Barvinok thanked all those who supported the initiative to install the memorial sign. 'From now on in our city — the cradle of technological progress and engineering concepts of the industry — there is a real symbol of the birth of national energy', - he said.
In addition, a full-scale mockup was moored up on the Moika River near the building 59 — on the site of the power plant. It comprises the exhibition of the Museum of History of the Northwest Energy of Russia, which will be available for residents and visitors of St. Petersburg on October 2-10. Also, twice a day, Power Petersburg walking tours have been organised, during which visitors can become aware of history of the energy industry, the milestones of its formation and fortunes of its founders.
