JSC TGC-1 invites residents and visitors of St. Petersburg to the Power Petersburg tours

October 2 to 10, 2015, residents and visitors of St. Petersburg will be able to take part in Power Petersburg tours and visit landmarks in history of the city and the domestic energy.

The tours have been organised by the Museum of History of the Northwest Energy of Russia and 
JSC TGC-1 – the largest producer of heat and electricity in the North-West.

The walking tour begins from the Moika River, the place where the first power plant started working in 1883. On October 1, a mockup of the power plant was moored there; a visiting exhibition of the Museum of History of the Northwest Energy has been housed in it. Unique photographs from a new book about the history of Russian energy can be seen in the museum. The exhibition tells about the first power plant on a barge, the illumination of Nevsky Prospekt and the Winter Palace, and first industrial power plants of the city.

‘The St. Petersburg era of electricity became the driving force behind the process of electrification of the entire country. It was in St. Petersburg where electric lamp was invented, a bridge was illuminated by electricity for the first time, and the first power plant in Russia started operating. We invite residents and visitors of St. Petersburg to see the milestones of the industry and fortunes of its founders,' - Natalia Bystrova, Director of the Museum of History of the Northwest Energy said.
