15 August 2016

In the past weekend the Arctic Plein Air was held at the Nizhne-Teriberskaya HPP-15. The painters from the Murmansk Region and Norway took place in the event.

Picturesque bay with the views of the Barents Sea and the Nizhne-Teriberskaya HPP, one of the northmost electric power plants, located in the Arctic Circle, and the youngest HPP in the Kola energy system, put to operation in 1987, became the main subjects of the art works. The painters also visited Teriberka with hydro power plants being the major facilities in the village.

— Such events give a unique opportunity to have a deeper look at the region and to discover and depict the major facilities for its development. The pictures prove harmony of hydro power plants and the nature, and show the best engineering solutions, supplying energy to people and at the same time saving environment, — Svetlana Sizonenko, the Administrative Director of the Kolskiy Branch of PJSC TGC-1 said.

Both well-known painters and the beginners took part in the Plein Air. They worked under direction of a Murmansk artist, Tatiana Lozovaya. The works will be exhibited in Murmansk, in September 2016.
