26 August 2016

On August 23-24, 2016, a scheduled meeting of Russian and Norwegian power specialists was held in Norway to discuss lake Inari water management. Alexander Novikov, the Chief Engineer of the Kolskiy Branch, Oleg Tyapinov, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Kolskiy Branch and Nikolay Vorobiev, the Director of the Paz HPPs Cascade represented PJSC TGC-1.

The participants discussed operating results of H1, 2016. Improved promptness of data exchange in terms of lake Inari water inflow and outflow via Russian and Norwegian HPPs became the key challenge due to the summer abundance of water caused by heavy rainfalls. The task force also planned further operations to improve the Water Management Procedure.

– Close collaboration to optimize production capacity, rational use of water resources and overall efforts to maintain favourable environmental conditions and biological diversity of lake Inari and Paz river is the cornerstone of the long-term trilateral relations. Resources of the Finnish lake Inari are used for electricity production at Russian and Norwegian HPPs, – Nikolay Vorobiev noted.
