Government of the Murmansk Region and PJSC TGC-1 Signed Environmental Agreement

January 26, 2017, Murmansk – Marina Kovtun, Governor of the Murmansk Region and Alexey Barvinok, General Director of PJSC TGC-1 signed the Environmental Agreement at the International Environmental Conference, opening the Year of Ecology in the region. The document provides for the continuing cooperation in implementing several significant environment protection projects at the heat supply sources of PJSC Murmanskaya CHPP.

         "The Year of Ecology challenges us to improve the environment, particularly the atmospheric air," Marina Kovtun, Governor of the Murmansk Region, noted.

To improve the environment of Murmansk by the end of 2018, the heat supply plant will restore its treatment facilities and upgrade fuel oil drainage system at Yuzhnaya boiler facility and Centralnaya CHPP.

"Mitigation of negative impact and protection of the environment are among the priorities of the largest heat supply plant of the Subarctic and of PJSC TGC-1 in general. Upgrading the existing capacities and constructing the new energy facilities, the company applies equipment and technologies with the minor environmental impact and natural resources consumption," Alexey Barvinok said. – In the Year of Ecology we will pay even more attention to the environmental compliance. In the next two years the total scope of the relevant investments of PJSC Murmanskaya CHPP may reach RUB 500 million."

PJSC Murmanskaya CHPP implements current technologies, reducing anthropogenic impact, supporting resource conservation and improving energy efficiency as part of its investment and maintenance programs. The company performs continuous production monitoring to ensure compliance with the permissible emission standards.
