On May 24, 2017, there was a festive event dedicated to the completion of comprehensive rebuild of Pervomayskaya CHPP of TGC-1 – one of the most important projects of the Investment Program of Gazprom Group's energy companies in St. Petersburg.

The Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko and Chief Engineer of  TGC-1 Alexey Vorobyev participated in the event. Hot water supply to consumers of the South-West of the city was switched to the new integrated auxiliary building (IAB), and the old building of Pervomayskaya CHPP was decommissioned.

"Pervomayskaya CHPP is a unique facility of the Company's Investment Program. Having built two power generating units in 2011 and 2012, we solved a problem of electric capacity substitution, and transition of heat load to the new integrated auxiliary building allowed us to decommission old facilities, improve our production efficiency and reduce environmental impact on the city and the region. By means of using up-to date equipment environmental impact was minimised for St. Petersburg and the Gulf of Finland. It is also important that most of Pervomayskaya CHPP's equipment is of domestic manufacture. With the new IAB being commissioned, a problem of uninterrupted year-round heat supply from CHPP for consumers' hot water needs has been solved," Alexey Vorobyev, Chief Engineer of TGC-1, noted.

The Governor of St. Petersburg congratulated TGC-1 with completion of a broad-scale rebuild, emphasising the social significance of Pervomayskaya CHPP, having about half a million of citizens and the largest industrial enterprises located in its heat supply zone.

TGC-1 is the major heat power supplier in St. Petersburg. Ten CHPPs located on the territory of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region supply heat to the citizens and enterprises of the city. The company's share on the heat power market of St. Petersburg exceeds 50%.

Pervomayskaya CHPP is located in the Kirovsky District of St. Petersburg and provides heat for industries, residential and social structures of the South-West of the city (Admiralteysky, Kirovsky and Krasnoselsky Districts). More than 500,000 people live in the heat supply zone of the power plant, as well as large manufacturers – JSC Kirovsky Zavod, JSC Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg and PJSC Severnaya Verf Shipyard.

The rebuild project included construction of two power generating units with total installed electric capacity of 360 MW, integrated auxiliary building (IAB) consisting of hot water and steam boilers with total heat capacity of 689.3 Gcal/h and water treatment equipment. The fuel reserves complex was also erected as part of this project. Several months ago the construction of IAB was completed, which enabled to decommission the old plant that had operated for 60 years in the power system of the city.
