A unique career-oriented tour ended at Nizhne-Svirskaya HPP of TGC-1

On September 12, 2016 a career-oriented charity tour around power facilities of the Northwest for graduates of orphanages ended at Nizhne-Svirskaya HPP of TGC-1. It was held under the motto Following the Road of Good with Energy of TGC.

For five days the participants of the unique tour drove 1,200 km around the Ladoga lake and visited five hydroelectric power plants of TGC-1. During the tour they arranged master classes for boarders of special schools and children from orphanages of the Northwest and planted coniferous trees and shrubs. The participants also signed a petition on a careful attitude to energy within the framework of the All-Russian Festival of Energy Saving # ВместеЯрче (Brighter Together). Today they received special diplomas.

"Social and career-oriented programs are an integral part of our company's activities. In this unique project we managed to combine several important tasks – to show how the power system of Russia works, to tell how to become a power specialist, and to implement charitable and environmental projects together with graduates and children living in orphanages in each region of our work. I am sure that children found many new friends and mentors among employees of TGC-1," said Alexey Barvinok, the General Director of TGC-1.

This year the tour participants visited the Vuoksa HPPs Cascade, learned about operation of small HPPs in Karelia and the unique engineering project of G. Graftio— Nizhne-Svirskaya HPP. The Company plans to continue this project. There over fifty power plants in TGC-1 and each one is unique.

"We, the power specialists, are pleased to be a part of such good and important project, to communicate with young people who only start to determine what their future will be, to share the secrets of our profession," said Dmitry Vidyakin, the Director of the Ladoga HPPs Cascade of TGC-1, where the energy cruise ended today. "I'm sure each of the participants will find their calling and will be able to realise their potential. It would be a special reward for us if someone chooses energy industry as their future.

Besides the visits to production facilities the participants of the tour attended three orphanages where they organised master-classes, games and presented gifts. The marathon of good deeds ended in Petrozavodsk where within the program, 100 thousand trees to Petrozavodsk, a landscape decoration was created.

Interesting meetings and acquaintances, communication with professionals in their sphere will help graduates of orphanages to choose their life path. "This special journey filled with positive energy will play a huge role in the fate of those who became the participants of the tour, those who only start to think about their future, " said Julia Semenova, the founder of the Road of Good fund.
