TGC-1 and Leningrad Oblast sign a cooperation agreement on the wind farm construction project

Today, the General Director of TGC-1 Alexey Barvinok and the Governor of Leningrad Oblast Aleksandr Drozdenko have signed a cooperation agreement on implementation of the wind farm construction project.

Mutual interest in effective cooperation is highlighted in the document, as well as the organisation of joint work groups and other means of interaction regarding the project implementation matters are provided.

TGC-1 is considering the possibility of construction of a wind farm with capacity of 50 MW on the coast of the Gulf of Finland in Leningrad Oblast. The project is planned to be implemented in accordance with Decree of the Russian Federation No. 449 of 28 May 2013 "On Stimulation of Renewable Energy Sources Use on the Wholesale Electricity and Capacity Market".

"Wind generation is not a competitor, but an addition to the power industry. The  combination of a number of factors is essential for such projects to be successful. The factors are mechanisms ensuring economic efficiency, wind potential territories, and reserves of conventional capacities that can cover wind generation loads in any weather. TGC-1, together with Leningrad Oblast, has all the necessary requirements," said Alexey Barvinok.

TGC-1 is the leading producer and supplier of electricity and heat in the Northwest of Russia. TGC-1 comprises 53 electric power plants within four constituent entities of the Russian Federation: St. Petersburg, the Republic of Karelia, and Leningrad and Murmansk Oblasts.

6 hydroelectric power plants of TGC-1 are located in Leningrad Oblast: Volkhovskaya HPP, Nizhne-Svirskaya HPP (the Ladoga HPPs Cascade), Lesogorskaya HPP and Svetogorskaya HPP (the Vuoksa HPPs Cascade), Narvskaya HPP, and Severnaya CHPP in the Vsevolozhsky District on the border of St. Petersburg.
