TGC-1's power specialists discussed electricity export with Finnish colleagues from INERGIA OY

On 21–22 March 2018, the power specialists of TGC-1 and the Kolsky RED held a meeting with the Finnish partners, representatives of INERGIA OY at the Finnish municipality of Inari.

Organisation of export electricity transfer from Kaitakoski HPP, part of the Paz HPPs Cascade, to Finland and service of 110 kV power transmission line connecting the border power systems were at the heart of the discussion.

"For many years, Murmansk Oblast has been cooperating with Lapland in the area of electric power. We have a close connection in terms of the reliable electricity supplies to the border territories," explained Stanislav Nazarov, Deputy General Director, Director of TGC-1 Kolsky Branch.

Participants of the meeting noted the necessity to maintain a high efficiency level of information exchange on equipment condition, continuing operation of the power transmission line, and relay protection, as well as visited boiler facilities of Ivalo and Saariselkä.

The Paz HPPs Cascade of TGC-1 was established in 1955. It unites five hydroelectric power plants with the total capacity of 187.6 MW. The Cascade allows for electricity export to Norway and Finland.

TGC-1 is the leading producer and supplier of electricity and heat in the North-West of Russia. The Kolsky branch of TGC-1 includes 17 HPPs located in the Kola Peninsula, and Apatitskaya CHPP.

INERGIA OY renders electricity transmission services and provides district heating production for the settlements of Ivalo, Saariselkä and Inari.
