The scheduled repair of hydroelectric generating unit No. 1 with a capacity of 30.5 MW was completed at Svetogorskaya HPP of TGC-1

The scheduled repair of hydroelectric generating unit No. 1 with a capacity of 30.5 MW was completed at Svetogorskaya HPP of TGC-1.

As part of the repair, unconventional work was carried out to upgrade the equipment of the water intake house, emergency and repair spillway gates with lifting mechanisms, servomotor of the impeller and the automatic control system, as well as replacement of intake screens of the hydroelectric generating unit was completed.

"Svetogorskaya HPP is the basic source of electricity supply for the Karelian Isthmus and an important part for the region’s unified energy system. All major repair activities are aimed at ensuring the reliability and continuous operation of the hydroelectric power plant," explained Vasily Pustokhod, Director of the Vuoksa HPPs Cascade of TGC-1.

The Vuoksa HPPs Cascade comprises Svetogorskaya and Lesogorskaya HPPs. The plants generate energy for transmission to the unified energy system in Russia and Finland, providing electricity exports in the amount of 400 to 500 million kWh per year. The installed capacity of Svetogorskaya HPP is 122 MW, and the long-term average electricity generation is 554.6 million kWh.

TGC-1 is a leading producer and supplier of electricity and heat in the North-West of Russia. TGC-1 comprises 53 electric power plants within four constituent entities of the Russian Federation: St. Petersburg, the Republic of Karelia, and Leningrad and Murmansk Oblasts. The installed electric capacity of TGC-1 is 6.95 GW, and heat capacity — 13.65 thousand Gcal/h.
