The main stage of implementation of modern control systems to monitor the operation of hydroelectric generating units has been completed at the hydro power plants of TGC-1's Kolsky branch.

Thermal, vibration and shaft control systems were installed at most of the hydro power plants within the Arctic Circle. They allow for a timely monitoring parameters of hydroelectric generating units from the distance, forming warning signals about deviations from the standard values, and visualising and storing data. This, in turn, increases safety of the HPP operation — power engineers receive online up-to-date information on the operation of hydraulic turbines and make decisions.

"The final stage of the project is scheduled for 2019 and is aimed at equipping hydroelectric generating unit No. 1 of Yanikoski HPP with modern complexes, as well as hydroelectric generating units of Verkhne-Tulomskaya HPP. These works will be performed during upgrade of the plant," said Oleg Tyapinov, Chief Engineer of the Kolsky branch of TGC-1.
