On 14 March 2019, a new impeller for hydroelectric generating unit No. 4 was delivered to TGC-1's Verkhne-Tulomskaya HPP in Murmansk Oblast.

It was produced and tested at ČKD Blansko Holding, a subsidiary of JSC Tyazhmash in the Czech Republic. The impeller has travelled 3,700 km by road and sea from Blansko (Czech Republic) through Kiel (Germany) and St. Petersburg to the Verkhnetulomsky settlement.

“The impeller is delivered already assembled, which reduces the time needed for its installation and commissioning of the hydroelectric generating unit. The HPP upgrade project provides for growth in capacity of the hydroelectric generating units without changing the impeller type. At the same time, the volume of oil will be reduced by a factor of dozens due to modern polymeric sealing materials,” noted Oleg Tyapinov, Chief Engineer of the Kolsky Branch of TGC-1.

The Verkhne-Tulomskaya HPP upgrade project includes full step-by-step replacement of the hydroelectric generating units, as well as the regulatory, safety control and automation systems of the plant. The main objectives are replacement of outdated equipment and increase of operating reliability with requirements to the HPP's operation modes taking into consideration.
