The full repair of the equipment at the Palieozerskaya HPP of TGC-1 is completed

As part of the Power System Repair and Maintenance Programme of TGC-1, the full repair of hydroelectric generating unit No.1 with a capacity of 12.5 MW was completed within the stated period at the Palieozerskaya HPP, the upper part of the Suna HPPs Cascade. The repair and maintenance works lasted for more than five months. During that time, a large volume of regulated and extremely standard works were conducted, with complete disassembly and excavation of the impeller. 

“In order to ensure the efficient and reliable exploitation of the plant, while the hydroelectric generating unit was getting repaired, we also repaired the concrete waterway, the suction pipe, the spiral chamber, as well as the emergency and repair spillway gates,” said Evgeny Lopatin, Director of the Suna HPPs Cascade of TGC-1.

The upgrade of the energy equipment at the Suna HPPs Cascade aims at ensuring the continuous functioning of the facility and strengthening the production's environmental safety.

TGC-1 is a leading producer and supplier of electricity and heat in the North-West of Russia. TGC-1 comprises 53 power plants within four constituent entities of the Russian Federation: St. Petersburg, the Republic of Karelia, and Leningrad and Murmansk Oblasts.

At present, the Karelsky branch gathers 16 hydroelectric power plants, which represent three HPPs cascades: Vyg, Suna and Kem HPPs Cascades, as well as Petrozavodskaya combined heat and power plant.

Total capacity of TGC-1's plants in the Republic of Karelia: power capacity of 833.7 MW and heat capacity of 733 Gcal/h. Gross electricity output of 3,716.1 million kWh; heat power output of 1,786,100 Gcal.

In December 2019, Palieozerskaya HPP will celebrate its 65th anniversary. It was with its commissioning on the Suna River that the Suna HPPs Cascade was formed.
