Wastewater treatment scheme upgraded at Pravoberezhnaya CHPP of TGC-1

30 April 2019

Local industrial and storm wastewater treatment facilities were put in trial operation at Pravoberezhnaya CHPP of TGC-1. The modern technologies allow to prepare effluents for reuse in the production cycle.

During the plant trial commissioning, General Director of TGC-1 Alexey Barvinok noted that the use of process water supply closed cycle technologies is an example of the fundamental approach of power engineers to environmental protection.

"In the conditions when water becomes the most valuable natural resource, our technical solution demonstrates economic efficiency by optimising the costs of water supply and wastewater disposal," pointed Alexey Barvinok.

The technical solution has a compact construction scheme and ensures high productivity and efficiency of treatment. The treatment facilities are designed to operate a volume of up to 120 cubic meters per hour. The installation does not produce odors, noise and can be used on any heat and power plants, including those located in dense urban buildings.

For reference

TGC-1's Pravoberezhnaya CHPP was put in operation on 20 May 2006. The plant supplies electricity to industrial enterprises, residential and public facilities of Nevsky and Krasnogvardeisky districts of St. Petersburg. To date, more than 700 thousand citizens are warmed by the heat of Pravoberezhnaya CHPP. Its installed electric capacity is 643 MW, and installed heat capacity is 1,283 Gcal/h.

TGC-1 is a leading producer and supplier of electricity and heat in the North-West of Russia. The Company comprises 53 power plants within four constituent entities of the Russian Federation: St. Petersburg, the Republic of Karelia, and Leningrad and Murmansk oblasts.
