On 3 October 2019, functional testing of the impeller for hydroelectric generating unit No. 1 of Verkhne-Tulomskaya HPP was conducted in the Czech Republic at the ČKD Blansko Holding plant, a subsidiary of JSC TYAZHMASH. Representatives of TGC-1 and the general contractor Teploenergoremont LLC took part in the testing. The purpose of the testing is to confirm the main functional characteristics of the new impeller

On 3 October 2019, functional testing of the impeller for hydroelectric generating unit No. 1 of Verkhne-Tulomskaya HPP was conducted in the Czech Republic at the ČKD Blansko Holding plant, a subsidiary of JSC TYAZHMASH. Representatives of TGC-1 and the general contractor Teploenergoremont LLC took part in the testing. The purpose of the testing is to confirm the main functional characteristics of the new impeller.

The hydroelectric generating unit equipment will be completely replaced during the project of the step-by-step sweeping upgrade of the hydroelectric power plant.

"Under the upgrade project, the capacity of each hydroelectric generating unit will be increased by 8 MW with the preservation of the impeller type. Currently, works on installation of the new equipment and management systems of hydroelectric generating unit No. 4 are continuing. Upon completion of the work, the upgrade of the hydroelectric generating unit No. 1 will be started," noticed Vladimir Tsvetkov, the head of the capital construction project implementation department of TGC-1.

The main objectives of the project are out-of-date equipment replacement and increase of operating reliability with requirements to the HPP operation modes taken into consideration.

Verkhne-Tulomskaya HPP is part of the Tuloma and Serebryanskiye HPPs Cascade of TGC-1. This plant is the largest HPP in the North-West of Russia. Four hydroelectric generating units with a capacity of 268 MW have been installed on Verkhne-Tulomskaya HPP. The HPP's turbine hall is located underground, at a depth of 50 metres.
